Abstract

The video app TikTok had more downloads in 2021 than other social media apps. In a very short time this software evolved into one the most popular online platforms and attracted not only a lot of users but also many content creators. Between entertaining dance videos and comedy clips there is more and more scientific communication to be found. In this article a self-experiment of producing a TikTok channel on music research and knowledge over the course of the year 2021 is described. Further, potentials for musicological communication are discussed.
